Hi Rachel,
I just put a pair of Pro-Grips ($19.95) on my '96 Savage. I had a problem with putting the right (throttle) grip on. Even though I carefully cut off the ridges on the plastic throttle grip, the chromed metal collar would not fit properly. I had to turn it backwards to make it fit. And I used a piece of the original chrome piece as a filler. It looks fine. But the best part is that the vibration is gone. The cushioning effect of these grips is wonderful. No more tingling sensation. It would probably be easier if you just got all rubber (no chrome collars) cushioned grips. But you'ld lose the look of the chrome.
Good luck and ride safe,
Bob
